Barry Sookman will provide his annual update of significant developments in IT/Internet Law as we embark on a new year for the TCLG. Barry Sookman’s presentation is an annual tradition that is not to be missed!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Barry Sookman is a partner with McCarthy Tetrault in Toronto where he is the co-chair of the Technology Law Group. Prior to that, he was head of the Intellectual Property Group for 6 years. Mr. Sookman is one of Canada’s foremost authorities in the area of Information Technology Law.

Barry Sookman is the author of the three volume text entitled Sookman: Computer Law: Acquiring and Protecting Information Technology (1989-1999), the four volume text Sookman: Computer, Internet and Electronic Commerce Law (1999-2005) and the book Computer, Internet and Electronic Commerce Terms: Judicial, Legislative and Technical Definitions (2004). He also lectures and writes extensively on legal issues related to computer, electronic commerce and Internet law.

Barry Sookman appears as a leading lawyer in the areas of computer & IT and technology in both the 2005 Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, published by Lexpert and American Lawyer, and the 2005 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, a guide to the leading law firms and practitioners in Canada

COST FOR ATTENDANCE

Cost for lunch: ten dollars ($10) for members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group.

Cancellations also accepted before 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2006. Substitutions are permitted anytime. Registrants who do not attend and do not cancel or send a substitute may be invoiced for lunch.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS AND NEW MEMBERS

Renew your membership for 2006 -2007. The fee to join the TCLG for 2006-2007 is forty-five dollars ($45). Law students enrolled in full-time studies may join free of charge. Membership runs from September to August, and the TCLG meets monthly from September to May.
