Tax issues are often a challenge for IT agreements and other agreements relating to technology transfers and services. Dov Begun will highlight some common tax issues encountered by practitioners, such as withholding taxes for services and royalty type payments as well as provincial and federal transfer taxes. This presentation will be of interest to both counsel for suppliers and users of information technology.

Dov is a partner in the firm’s Tax Department and specializes in the areas the taxation of high-technology transactions and cyber taxation. Dov has published extensively, including on the taxation of electronic commerce, intellectual property transfers and income characterization for companies engaged in electronic commerce.

COST FOR ATTENDANCE

Cost for lunch: ten dollars ($10) for members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group.

Renew your membership for 2006-2007. The fee to join the TCLG for 2006-2007 is forty-five dollars ($45). Law students enrolled in full-time studies may join free of charge. Membership runs from September to August, and the TCLG meets monthly from September to May.
