TOPIC

Please join us for a panel discussion on navigating the constantly evolving and increasingly complex IT supply chain.  Discussion topics will include the following:

  • An overview of IT supply chain risks – from the customer and supplier perspectives
  • Customer risk management – vendor diligence, quality assurance, industry standards
  • Supplier risk management – customer diligence, scope of product/service offering, pricing models
  • Cyber security supply chain governance
  • Scope of procurements that may require cyber risk management

Lunch will be served at noon and the presentation will begin at 12:30 pm.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Omid Safavi, Managing Director, OSV Professional Corporation – Omid is responsible for management and leadership of his Chartered Professional Accounting and Management Consulting practices. Clients look to Omid for his advice, his ability to solve complex challenges with creative and innovative approaches, and his functional and industry expertise. Omid is a trusted business advisor, relationship builder, and a mentor to rising leaders with over 20 years of experience primarily in capital intensive industries. Prior to establishing OSV, Omid was a partner in KPMG’s Management Consulting practice, serving some of the top tier clients in Canada in the financial services, power & utilities, and engineering & construction industries. And prior to KPMG, he worked at Deloitte Enterprise Risk Services as a Senior Manager, and prior to that, he was a Management Consultant at RWE, where he, in a joint project with Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, managed a multi-year implementation of a Strategic Enterprise Management initiative.

Matt Thorpe, Counsel, Ontario Power Generation – Matt’s practice focuses on procurement and commercial transactions for infrastructure projects as well as the ongoing operation and maintenance of OPG’s existing generating assets. Matt also supports OPG’s Chief Information Officer on issues related to information technology and information management. Matt takes a multi-disciplinary approach to the practice of law and maintains an interest and knowledge base in a range of areas including procurement law, corporate law, environmental law, construction law, IT law, intellectual property and confidential information, and civil litigation.

David Feldman, Associate in the Technology/Outsourcing Group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP – David specializes in outsourcing and technology-related matters. He represents organizations that are negotiating complex outsourcing, licensing, system implementation, or other commercial agreements. He also handles all technology aspects of transactions involving the purchase and sale of assets and/or shares, including transitional services arrangements between the buyer and seller. David has been seconded from Blakes to large Canadian corporations in the financial services and retail industries. Before practising law, David worked with a team of electrical, computer, and software engineers to design customized computer processors for wireless headsets and digital hearing aids.

COST FOR ATTENDANCE

Cost for attendance: ten dollars ($10) for members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group.

MEMBERSHIP

The cost of membership for lawyers is fifty-five dollars ($55), and articling students and law school students may join the TCLG free of charge by indicating that they are “students” on the membership application form.
