Michael Eisen joined Microsoft Canada in 1998 as the “internet tidal wave” was washing over all of us. Who could have imagined what was in store for Michael, for the company, for technology and for Canada in that quarter century?

Come and hear Michael reflect on his time at one of the most storied companies in history as TCLG and special guests celebrate his accomplishments and contributions to Canada and technology law.

Lunch will be served at noon and the presentation will begin at 12:30 pm.

Until recently Michael Eisen was the Chief Legal Officer, Microsoft Canada Inc. He was a member of Microsoft’s Canadian Leadership Team and oversaw Microsoft’s legal interests in Canada, with particular emphasis on government relations, Internet safety and security, intellectual property and competition policy issues.

Prior to joining Microsoft Canada, Michael worked at a Toronto law firm where he was Microsoft’s lead outside counsel in Canada. He also served as Secretary and General Counsel to the Canadian Alliance Against Software Theft and was copyright counsel to the Canadian cable television industry.

Educated at York University and Osgoode Hall Law School, Mr. Eisen was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1977 and the Alberta Bar in 1981.

Cost for lunch is ten dollars ($10) for TCLG members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the “Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group”.

The cost of membership for lawyers is fifty-five dollars ($55). The membership fee for students is waived; articling students and law school students may join the TCLG free of charge by indicating that they are “students” on the membership application form. Please see the online membership page for further details: http://www.tclg.org/membership.
