October 2009 Meeting
MEETING:
The next meeting of the Toronto Computer Lawyers' Group (TCLG) is being held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, Toronto Dominion Bank Tower, 42nd Floor, T-D Centre, Toronto, Ontario.
TOPIC: The Province of Ontario's New Procurement Directive
The presentation will deal with the new Ontario Procurement Directive and its implications for bidders on Ontario government tenders, including the prospects for challenging provincial government contract awards covered by the Directive. The presentation will also address the interface between the Directive and other trade agreements providing procurement remedies, including the Agreement on Internal Trade, the WTO and the NAFTA agreements. A discussion of the impact of the Directive in information technology related matters will be encouraged. Click here for a copy of the presentation.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Mark Sills is a Partner with the Toronto office of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. Mr. Sills' legal practice is primarily focussed on international trade and investment. Mark carries on an active trade remedies practice in Canada involving anti-dumping and safeguards actions, challenges to awards of government contracts before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and advice on export and import control issues.
Over the past ten years, he has also been actively involved in providing legal and trade policy advice to various foreign governments, including The Bahamas, Viet Nam, the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan.
COST FOR ATTENDANCE:
Cost for lunch: ten dollars ($10) for members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the Toronto Computer Lawyers' Group.
